Pregnancy Safe Deodorant

Is Deodorant Safe While Pregnant?

Freshening up with antiperspirant while pregnant is safe for you and your child. Just be mindful of the ingredients listed on the labels.

Cleanse your body of heavy metals found in many deodorants, such as aluminum. This common deodorant ingredient clogs your sweat glands to prevent perspiration.

Telling sweat, "Smell ya later," is nice and all. However, using aluminum deodorant while pregnant also has been linked to preterm births [1].

We will help you find some natural alternatives in just a bit. You can also take a look at the pregnancy-safe products we recommend.

But first, aluminum isn't the only deodorant pregnancy culprit here! Keep an eye out for its toxic friends.

Scan the ingredients list for other potentially toxic chemicals:

  • Parabens (Methylparaben and Propylparaben) - may influence weight gain [2].

  • Phthalates (MEP, MBP, MEHP, MEHHP, MECPP) - may impact cognitive performance [3].

  • Triclosan - may influence low-birth weight [4].

  • Propylene Glycol - babies can't break down as adults can [5].

  • Fragrance - we don't even know what "fragrance" is! [6]

Do these ingredients seem to pop up on every label you look at? Then it's time to find some new friends who support you. Let's discover the best deodorants to use while pregnant!
